An updated New Zealand ReidBar™ Design Guide is now available!
This update includes referencing to the Isolated Direct Tension and Shear Capacity Methodology in place of the Design Concepts for Reinforcement Anchorage published in the ReidTM Product Catalogue & Design Guides 07/08.
There has also been some other changes to the contents and commentaries within this new Design Guide. The ReidBraceTM system for example, has been removed from this Design Guide with an intention of including this system into our upcoming Structural Steel Design Guide.

Reid are in the middle of trialing our new online service for concrete lifting designs requests for tilt construction and precast.
Due to the volume of design work that we undertake for the concrete construction industry, it has been beneficial for customers to be able to log their lifting projects through the service. The customer has full disclosure of any jobs that they have underway and in fact, can edit if required while the job is still in progress.
Feedback from customers trialling the system has been positive and we will look to roll this out in the near future to all who wish to use our lifting design service.
We have sadly been informed of the passing of Ian Grooby, Chief Executive of the Crane Association.
Ian apparently collapsed and was involved in a Road incident. Sadly Ian died at the scene of the accident last night.
Ian has been our steadfast and most capable leader for 17 years now and was due to retire pretty soon. Our heartfelt appreciation of his exemplary service to the Crane Association of New Zealand goes out to his family.
As a giant tunnelling machine is packed into 20 shipping containers in China, ready to build Auckland’s $1.4 billion Waterview link, a major upgrade is starting on the adjacent Northwestern Motorway. Read the full story here…….
Timber look Formliner
When Terry Hiette of RPA Architects in Townsville went looking for an architectural finish that replicated the look and feel of Oregon Timber for the James Cook University “The Cairns Institute” project in FNQ, the solution came from an unlikely source. Richard Lawrence, Project Manager at Hansen Yuncken had investigated the option of using the recently launched Vac-U-Form™ Single-Use plastic formliners from Reid.
Perfectly suited for small-to-medium areas of coverage, the range of Architectural Single-use Vac-U-Form liners from Reid provide precasters, tilt-up contractors and insitu formworkers with a cost-effective option for patterned concrete detail, without the need to invest heavily in traditional timber or rubber formliners.
